Why Grim Dawn is a Far Superior Game Compared to Diablo 2

Greetings and Welcome to a Special Edition Blog. This is actually a comparison between two popular  ARPG's  (Action Role Playing Games) that are Grim Dawn and Diablo 2.

Now, this is all opinion based, so, the point of this blog is mainly a thoughtful and personal reason as to why I believe that Grim Dawn, a game that actually bears many similarities to Diablo and the series in general, just has far more value and more to offer compared to the "Father of ARPG's". So, here are the main reasons why I say Grim Dawn is vastly superior.

1. The Cross Class System in Grim Dawn offers far more versatility and flexibility

In Hack in Slash Role Playing Games, playing a Class of your choice ultimately determines the playstyle you want to experience the game's action. Sure, a simple class such as a Warrior, in Diablo's Case, the Barbarian, are wildly satisfying for their Melee Combat potential, but what if I was to tell you that sometimes, the whole experience starts to get, dare I say "Boring"? Well, Grim Dawn not only takes this category with flying colors, it offers alot of replay value to the gameplay. You could be a Melee Fighter with a Secondary Class that can cast Spells, Summon Skeletons, Use Powerful Firearms/Crossbows, and even do Two Melee Styled Classes but with very different Abilities all at once. Really, Grim Dawn's Approach to it's Class System gives it greater Variety and Replay Value.

2. The Combat System in Grim Dawn feels alot more accessible.

Similar to Cross Classes, The Combat System is also alot more versatile. The UI system in Grim Dawn simply has far more hotkeys and doesn't cover a quarter of the Screen like what Diablo 2 does. It also helps that, oddly enough, All class types in Grim Dawn can wield any type of Weapon, An Occulist/Arcanist Class is capable of using Swords, Axes and Maces despite more emphasis on Tomes and Wands. Diablo 2's Combat System only shines with certain Classes. A Barbarian's Strength increases the Damage output of Melee Weapons. Cool? Do that to a Necromancer, and, well, he doesn't have the same Specialized bonuses the Barbarian has. That's why Diablo 2 suffers in this category, it lacks the versatile Combat System with Weapon Usage and frankly, stuff like +2 to Raise Skeletons with a Wand on a Barbarian is just hilarious misplaced. Sure, Grim Dawn does have that same drawback, but, as mentioned above, you can Cross Class your character to actually reap the benefits of that item. But, you may think that even with Cross Classing, that Item still won't work with those two classes right? Which brings up....

3. Grim Dawn uses a Shared Stash System far earlier than Diablo 2 Resurrected did, and it's Stash is much larger.

Here is why Grim Dawn absolutely Crushes Diablo 2's overall value. The Shared Stash is when you put items that you received and save it for other character's to use later. It even gets more stompy when you realize, Grim Dawn can allow you to buy more room for your Shared Stash, provided you have the "Iron Bits" to afford it. But still, Diablo 2 originally did not have this system and it gives it far more limited options to share your items unless it was multiplayer. Now, the remaster "Diablo 2 Resurrected" certainly brought this system back, but it was too little too late. Even if you try to give Diablo 2 Resurrected the benefit of trying to match the category, Grim Dawn's Stash is far larger by leaps and bounds.

Let's look at the Differences

Now, here is Diablo 2 Resurrected's Shared Stash

As you can see, Grim Dawn's Stash is simply far bigger. And, this is one of the only major categories that Grim Dawn Completely crushes Diablo 2 with regards to the value. You can hold so much items in Grim Dawn's Shared Stash, it can cover pretty much multiple playthroughs with different characters with endless hours of gameplay.

4. Everything Diablo 2 Resurrected actually presented, Grim Dawn basically did it and more.

Despite all of my previous points, this one pretty much is the "Summary" of why Grim Dawn is just leagues above Diablo 2......... It did all the improvements that Diablo 2 Resurrected presented and more. The story mode for Grim Dawn is much larger in scope (Two Story Expansions vs Lord of Destruction? No contest) and the gameplay is more refined and more modernized.

Think about it, if Diablo 2 is the better game, can you really pick anything it actually did that Grim Dawn doesn't have?

5. Diablo 2 Resurrected is unplayable in most PC's while Grim Dawn is playable......

So we reached the final nail in the coffin, Grim Dawn is just far more playable and can be launched smoothly compared to Diablo 2 Resurrected...... WHICH DIDN'T EVEN WORK ON MY PC AT ALL!!!!!!!!! Turns out, the game had far more strict requirements in order to play, the online servers where uncontrollable, and worst of all, alot of Lag. So really, Grim Dawn is playable for Modern and even slightly dated Computers, Diablo 2 Resurrected doesn't have that same care factor to the previous generation of gamers.

Of course, you can bring up Console Versions of Diablo 2 Resurrected, but really? Again, those version's of the Game still do not beat Grim Dawn's value, like Point Number 4, Grim Dawn just improved all of Diablo 2's gameplay with more tweaks and a longer story arc. It simply doesn't matter if Diablo 2 Resurrected is more playable in other PC's and such, Grim Dawn still offers far more Value and is cheaper to play.

Anyway, that's a wrap. I know this is a more generalized blog but those points are my reasons as to why Grim Dawn is the Superior Game. Thank you for Reading.
